About MY CRABTREE~WALLACE~NEWHOUSE-~JONES~and~OTHER RELATED FAMILIES
The Crabtree family originated in Yorkshire, England -- the name coming  from the fact that they lived by the Crabtree in the County of York. The  earliest record (from the Crabtree's of Southwest Virginia--no longer in  print) was of John Crabtree who lived in Yorkshire around the end of the  14th century; William Crabtree of Yorkshire, during the same time period;  William Crabtree of the Parish of Snaithe, Yorkshire 1412; and a bit later,  John Crabtree of Halifax, Yorkshire. All the Crabtree's are thought to have  common origin in the Crabtree's of Yorkshire." Crabtree, born 1638 in  Broughton, Yorkshire, England and his wife, Jane Pendleton, born abt.  1640 in Yorkshire, England.  Moved from Yorkshire around 1705.  He was  a planter and died on his plantation, situated on the confluence of Deer  Creek and Stout Bottle Branch in Baltimore County, Maryland.      Then to William Crabtree, b. 1682 in England and Jane Halstead.   Then to their son, William Crabtree II, b. 1704 in England and Mary Pyke, b. 1707 in Maryland.  Then to their son, William Crabtree III, b.1726 in Maryland and Hannah Lyon Whitaker, b.1729 in Maryland. Then to their son, John Crabtree, b.1774 in Virginia and Alice Friend, b. 1776 in Virginia.  Then to their son, John Martin Crabtree, b.1809 in Virginia and Mary Carolina Jones, b. 1826 in Virginia.  John Martin Crabtree brought his family to Dallas Co., Texas in 1858 and are buried in Dallas, along with a son Edward M.Crabtree.  Their son, Charles Franklin Crabtree Sr., b.1855 in Virginia married Harriet Alice Wallace, b.1864 in W.Virginia to Alexander Wallace II. b.1833 in W.Virginia and Evalyne Newhouse, b. 1833 in W.Virginia. Alexander Wallace II was the son of Alexander Wallace I, b.1794 in Scotland and Agnes Harrison, b.1795 in W.Virginia. Alexander Wallace II brought his family from W. Virginia in 1876 on the first train to enter the city of Ft. Worth.  They lived on Samuels Ave., next door to the Crabtree's.

ABOUT MY WALLACE FAMILY

Alexander Wallace I, born in Scotland in 1794 came to W. Virginia sometime before 1818 and married Agnes Harrison, born 2 Oct 1795 in Jackson co., W. Virginia and they married about 1818 in Kanawha Co.,  W. Virginia.  They were parents of 6 children, one being Alexander Wallace II, born 15 Nov 1833 in Charleston, Kanawha W. Virginia.  He married in 1855 to Evalyne Newhouse, born 22 Oct, 1833 in Sissonville, Kanawha, W. Virginia.  Alexander brought his family from W. Virginia in 1876 on the first train to enter the city of Ft. Worth.  They lived on Samuels Ave., next door to the Crabtree's. They were parents of nine children, all but one were born in Kanawha Co.,  W. Virginia,  There was a daughter born in Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co., TX.  Their daughter, Harriet Alice Wallace, born 4 Dec, 1864 in Charleston, Kanawha Co., W.VA married on Feb. 14, 1888 in Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co., TX to Charles Franklin Crabtree Sr., born 30 Oct, 1855 in Sulphur Springs, Lee Co., Virginia.

ABOUT MY NEWHOUSE FAMILY

In 1792, Michael Newhouse was a private in Capt. John Morris Co. of Rangers.  Called in to service 3/15/1792 to Jan 1793.  He and his family were at Col. George Clendenin station.  He made a crop 1 1/4 miles from the station. He was one of the first settlers of the Elk Dist. along with Martin Hammock and Allen Baxter in 1783,  He settled on the west side of Elk River, five miles below Jarrett's Ford.      His son, Michael Jr. married Catherine Lewis and their son Edmund Newhouse married Rachel Samuels, daughter of Samuel Greenberry Samuels and Esther Slack. Their daughter, Evalyne Newhouse married Alexander Wallace II and came to Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co., TX with their family in 1876.
      The Newhouse family was mostly in Kanahwa Co.,W. Virginia and married into the Samuels family and many other families of Kanawha Co., W. Virginia

ABOUT MY JONES FAMILY

Samuel Jones b. ca 1760-65 Wales  d. Jun 1824. He entered 50 acres on Beaver Creek, Grayson County, VA Aug 1793(Book A, page 2) He must have lived near Enoch Osborne who was ordered to appraise his estate on 17 Jun 1824. William and Stephen Jones were executors of the estate. Samuel is buried in  Mouth of Wilson, Grayson Co., Virginia.  Samuel died along the road on a trip from Wise Co., Virginia to Grayson Co., Virginia and was buried along side the road close to where he died.   He married Celia Creech of Grayson County, Virginia. Celia was born in 1764 in Rowan Co. NC, parents as yet unknown. d.Jan 1853 in Turkey Cove, Lee County, Virginia where she had gone to live with her children after Samuel's death. Celia is believed to have been the daughter of Stephen Creech.
    Samuel and Celia's son, Stephen Jones, b.2 Feb 1797=d.18 Aug 1848 in Virginia married Mary J. "Polly Parsons, b. 12 Jul 1793=d.9 Jan 1781 in virginia.  Their daughter Mary Caroline Jones, b. 12 Feb 1826=d.12 Mar 1870 in Dallas co., Texas where she had come with her husband, John Martin Crabtree, b. 11 Aug 1809=d.9 Aug 1883.  He also died in Dallas Co.,Texas and both are buried in the Caruth Historical Cemetery at Hillcrest Cemetery.
